Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
This has been another fantastic week in school and all the children are settling back into their learning and achieving our three rules.
The term seems to be going rather quickly and we will soon be thinking about the end of term.
I have spoken with staff about when we return after October break, as Monday is Halloween. We are allowing the children to bring a costume to school so that they can change after lunch if they want to and there will be a little celebration in each class.

There is a parent/child meeting on Wednesday 12th October starting at 17:00 in the Y4 classroom to discuss the arrangements for the residential trip that is happening after the October 1/2 term.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
Mr A
Thank you to all the parents that came to the meet the teacher evening. It started off with the explanation around the new behaviour policy and moved on to how children are now achieving housepoints. All the teachers say how useful the evening was going through things with you, so that everyone knows the expectations and how best to help your child.
This week we have had the RAF in from Brize Norton doing some STEM work with the children and from the things that I saw, the children and airforce personnel, truly had a great time.
Monday starts our celebration of the Big Green Week with everyone wearing green (do not worry if you do not have anything).

Attendance
Fantastic job on being in school everyday! This week’s winners with 98% attendance is Y2 🏆! Whole school attendance currently 95.7%, which is slightly behind the national figure of 96.2%. Remember every day a child is not in school, they are missing out on 7 lessons.
We celebrate The Big Green week next week with the children completing different events through the week, including a litter pick throughout the village.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and I shall see you all on Monday in something Green.
Mr A
I hope that you have had a great week. School life has been rather busy and we are enjoying having the children back in school. As we move into the weekend, I want to remind parents that we are closed on Monday with respect to our Queen, Queen Elizabeth II, may she RIP.
If you have not read the APP message, we are holding our 'normal' meet the teacher event next Wednesday at 5pm. We start in the school hall, so please enter via the school office, where I will introduce the entire team. I will then quickly talk about the new behaviour policy and how this is having a positive impact. You will then move to your child's classroom, where staff will talk you through Doodling, spelling, homework expectations and where to find the weekly class page and how to contact them.
School policy is that we will respond to all emails within 48 hours and if we think we need longer to investigate what is being asked, you will receive a holding email to let you know that we have read your concern/enquiry and we are investigating/finding out for you.

Top Doodlers
Our top doodling class, with 100% of children staying in the green zone, is Y5! Well done everyone in year 5, that is an amazing job ✓➗⁒🧮
Attendance
Whole school attendance currently is 95.05%, which means that many children are missing out on valuable learning time. Remember, our school target is 98%, as this has a limited amount of impact on our children's education and achieving their milestones. I know that you support us fully in making sure that your child is in school every day.
In other news...
Next week we have RAF Brize Norton in to do some STEM workshops with pupils across the school, what an exciting opportunity for our pupils.
And as already mentioned, we are holding our meet the teacher evening that we always have done on a yearly basis that has been paused due to COViD - it is great to be able to invite you all back into school again.
Have a great weekend and I will see you on Tuesday.
Mr A
What a fabulous start to the new term. Thank you so much for ensuring that your children are in the correct school uniform. I understand that whilst we are going through a cost of living crisis you may be finding it difficult with uniforms, but we have some spare available to help out. May I remind you that the school policy is black shoes and not trainers. Children will need trainers for the mile run and daps/trainers for indoor PE.
APP System
If you are not aware, we are back on the old system for APP messages from the school. The new APP system was not good enough and we experienced too many issues with this over the summer. I have given everyone access again to TheSchoolApp. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
House System and Behaviour
We are currently updating our behaviour policy and this should come out to you very soon. The main headlines are:
We have 3 rules to help the children, they are:
We are inspiring
We are achieving
We are enjoying
Our routines to help them with the rules are:
Excellent presentation
Excellent conversations
Excellent transitions
This is then followed by our stepped consequences:
1. Reminder of the rule
2. Check understanding of the rule (warning given)
3. Reminder using prompts (2nd warning given)
4. Timely reflection (3rd warning given, partner class)
All are followed up with restorative time (follow-up, repair, restore).
6. Parental conversation
Our conversations will always begin with: Is that how we ... at Chiseldon? Thank you for listening.
Our house system has also changed slightly with our house captains and vice captains. We are also making more of getting housepoints and changing some of the ways we give them out. You can read all about this on our House System page on the website: https://www.chiseldonprimary.co.uk/our-house-system/

Attendance
This week's top class with 98.41% are: Year 1
Well done everyone for a great start, the whole school attendance is 95.17%. Remember, every day counts. 1 day off, means that the children have lost 7 opportunities for learning and therefore fall behind their peers.
Homework
A gentle reminder of our homework policy - this can be found by using this link: https://www.chiseldonprimary.co.uk/curriculum-policies/
This includes reading every night; phonics for lower years; number bonds, timestables or arithmetic every night depending on year group; weekly spellings and the termly 48 spellings for their year group
In other news...
Next week our range of clubs starts. If you have not seen the list, they are on the school APP. I have given everyone access to this again, so you need to download the app for your smart device. Please email Mrs Embling with the club that your child would like to attend.
If you are wanting to book after-school care or need anything from the office, Mrs Embling is doing Mrs Hughes's job. This includes parent pay, trips, school meals etc.
If you need something from finance, please email finance@chiseldon.swindon.sch.uk and Mrs Bhalerao will be more than willing to help.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Mr A
