  • Merry Christmas 🎄 & a Happy New Year 🥳

    Thu 16 Dec 2021 Mr A

    Merry Christmas 🎅 everyone!

We have made it to the end of term - well done.  Thank you so much for your support over this term, it has meant the world to the staff and I.

In the event of a lockdown for schools in January, do not worry, we will go live from Tuesday 4th January, if the Government call for online learning.  If not, we will be fully open on Tuesday 4th and I look forward to seeing you all then.

This has truly been a crazy term and the children have shown how resilient they truly are.  They have moved back to bubbles and are working hard to make sure that they are catching back up with their learning - you should be very proud of their achievements.  We are, here at school!

There is a video on our Facebook page with every year group singing their own Christmas carol as we have not been able to be out on the green, singing as a whole school as we normally would.  This should be on the Facebook group by the end of today - Mr Baden is creating the video as we speak.

Christmas has always been an amazing time of year, here at Chiseldon and this year, more than ever, we can look to the future and the promise of things to come from Jesus.  The bible tells us that God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Let us hold on to that as we move through the next few weeks and celebrate the birth of Jesus and spend some much needed time with our families and friends.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

    Merry Christmas 🤶 🎄 🎅

    Fri 10 Dec 2021 Mr A

What an exciting week.  I love Christmas.  Our EYFS and Key Stage 1 pupils all performed the Nativity and what a spectacular show they put on.  If you missed it, it is on our Facebook page.

Christmas dinner yesterday, with our Christmas jumper day was a good giggle.  The children had loads of fun and a special thank you to the kitchen staff, Miss Harris and Mrs Parmenter for a wonderful job!  The food was amazing.

As you are aware, restrictions are increasing nationally from today and more on Monday.  This does not have an impact on what we are doing in school as we are already in bubbles, facemasks must be worn if you come in to school, and break times and lunch times are split.

One week to go and hopefully we can all have an illness free Christmas 🎄

If your child develops any symptoms, please make sure that you keep them off school and book a PCR test, this way we are keeping everyone safe.

    Fri 03 Dec 2021 Mr A

Wow! What a difference a week makes.  As you are aware, through the many app messages that are going out, we are experiencing many cases in school.

We are following all PHE advice and are making sure that bubbles do not mix in school and that we have the highest hygiene practices possible.  We always knew that if it did get into school, it would hit us hard as we are a small school!  The silver lining to this cloud is that at least it is all out of the way before Christmas 🎄.

I would like to thank all the staff at school who are going above and beyond for all the children at school.  They are all pulling together and working extremely hard to make sure that we deliver our high standard of education - thank you.

Thank you to all of you for keeping us smiling at the gates and encouraging us and the help that we need at this time. It truly means a lot to us here at school.

And last but not least, thank you to all the children for trying their very best, no matter that their teacher is at school or not and trying to be happy and get as much work done as possible - you are all stars 🌟

    Stars of the Week

    Year 4 Teddy C & Beau D
    Year 5 Esther BM & Steven J
    Year 6 Esha B & Ellie C

Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, I cannot take photos of the children.  We will catch up with this soon.

    Housepoint Winners

    EYFS Grace & Arthur
Key Stage 1 Dylan & Tayla
    Lower Key Stage 2 Bea
Upper Key Stage 2 Esha, Darcey, Ellie C, Reuben

Excellent stuff - well done for achieving so well.  The winning house this week, and it is about time, well done to St. George!

    Nativities, Key Stage Performances.

As you can imagine, this has been rather tricky for us to make sure that all the plays go ahead.  They have been removed from the diary today but please do not think these are cancelled.  We are trying very hard to make sure that something goes ahead for each year group.

The performance will go live on Facebook or Zoom (we will let you know).  Even if the children just sing the songs from their performances as so many are away.  We will continue until the end of term!

    Christmas Dinner

This is set for next Thursday 9th December.  If you would like your child to have Christmas dinner, you just select the roast option on ParentPay.  This is also our Christmas Jumper Day.  Children can come dressed all Christmassy and celebrate Christmas with us.

    Reports to Parents

We are hoping that all reports to parents go out at the end of next week.  However, with staff out, some reports may be the following week.  Please be patient with us, you will receive a report before the end of term.

    And Finally...

We have made it to the weekend.  Remember, if your child develops any symptoms, please take them for a PCR test and let me know using head@chiseldon.swindon.sch.uk. I will be checking emails over the weekend whilst our caseload remains high.

If you are in Key Stage 2, thank you to everyone who has taken their child for a PCR test, thank you for those that have spoken with me, and if you haven't done so yet, please can you complete this as soon as possible.  Your support in this is vital.

    Have a super weekend.

    Best Wishes

    Mr A
