Welcome to Year 6!
I hope you have all had a relaxing two weeks off and are well rested for Term 2! I can't wait to hear about all the exciting things you have been up to during the holidays
Our new topic is...
World War One!
You already have a great knowledge of WW1 and the effect upon the world. However, during our topic we are going to be having a closer look at Chiseldon Camp and the surrounding area as well as home campaigns during this war.
Art will see us designing our own campaign posters after studying others from this era, while in DT we will be designing our own poppy sculptures from clay, based upon the Poppy memorial in Royal Wootton Bassett.
Of course, we are also in the lead up to Christmas! This means we also have the production, Christmas Fair and Christmas jumper day to look forward to!
Your PE lessons are on a Monday - you must remember to bring your correct kit in every week. This should be a white t-shirt (or a plain t-shirt in the colour of your house), black shorts and daps. If cold weather, you can bring in dark tracksuit bottoms, a jacket and outdoor trainers.
Your music lessons are also on a Monday. You will be continuing the clarinet. Remember, you can take these home to practise!
Please continue to learn your 48 spellings - it is the Spelling Bee this term! You will be tested on them beforehand - anyone with 35 or above will be able to take part.
Parents - any concerns or queries, my door is open from 8:25 - 8:45, or you can pop and see me after school. Alternatively, you can arrange an appointment to see me after school.
This is a very busy term - but I know how hard you will all work!
