  • We made it to the end...

    Fri 23 Jul 2021 Mr A

Firstly, thank you so much for your support during this difficult year.  It has been one to remember being a head.  We have had some highs and lows but we have made it to the end without too many cases and we have managed not to close a hub, so a big THANK YOU for following the rules and helping keep us all safe.

On this note, staff have to test until next Wednesday to make sure that the hub is safe.  If your child does come down with the symptoms, please get a PCR test.  If this is confirmed, test and trace will then contact the school to let us know if any hub needs to isolate.  Fingers crossed that non of us test positive before then 😊

We say goodbye to our Y6 pupils.  Thank you so much for all that you have given our school.  We wish you all the very best for the future and I am sure, whatever secondary you are attending, you will show what a wonderful, talented bunch you are - all the very best.

All the children have received their Bronze, Silver or Gold behaviour award today and we shared a final assembly together.  It was lovely to see all our children back in the hall celebrating the end of the school year.

    September 2nd 2021

This is the date that we return to school.  As in previous years, we will be doing a whole school topic.  The staff have decided that they are looking at Artists.  What a great way to start the year.  At the end of the term, there will be an exhibition of all the art work the children have created and you will be invited in to school.

As normal the first day will be a dress up day.  You can come as an artist, decorate a t-shirt during the holiday, or come as a painting.  You can be as creative as you like - I cannot wait to see the talent on the first day back.

    EYFS: Vangogh

    Year 1: Warhol

    Year 2: Kandinsky

    Year 3: Morris

    Year 4: Lichtenstein

    Year 5: Escher

    Year 6: Banksy

From September, there is no need to come in one entrance and leave via the opposite.  Therefore, Mr Hatcliffe and I will be at the small gate at 08:25 welcoming everyone back.  Remember, children need to be in school by 08:45 when the gates close.

At the end of the school day, we will open the school gate and parents will be able to come on to school site, as per pre-covid, to collect your child.  Mr Hatcliffe and myself will not be showing children to parents as we have done during the pandemic.

To parents that are leaving the school as you now have no children left, thank you so much for all your support over the years, the staff and I are overwhelmed by your lovely gifts and generosity.  It has been a pleasure working with you all - please come and visit us during our events, it will be lovely to see you.

To parents who still have children in the school, thank you for all your support and kindness, the staff and I are overwhelmed by your lovely gifts and generosity.  Have a lovely summer break, enjoy the weather and have some quality time as a family without the pressure of homework and the day to day hustle and bustle of school life.  See you in September.

Have a great summer everyone, see you on the 2nd September.

  • What a week!

    Fri 16 Jul 2021 Mr A

    What an amazing week!

The weather looks to end the week with some sunshine, which will put us all in good spirits moving in to the final week of term - get those BBQs out and relax in the sun!

Year 5 are off on their residential on Monday, wow, what a way to end the school year - caving, river gorging, and rock climbing in Wales...

Sports Hour happened for all our year groups and these can be found on the private Facebook page.  I know that it was very disappointing not having our usual multi events and some children limited to one race, but staff managed this event effectively so that all children thoroughly enjoyed the day.  I did manage to take a range of photographs during the day and was hoping to be able to include them in this week's blog.  However, today has proved to be rather busy and with new guidance for Primary schools for Monday, so I will endeavour to create a post early next week or over the weekend depending on the weather :)

    Guidance for Primary Schools

The DfE have released new guidance that comes in to action on Monday.  However, I have taken the decision not to implement this for next week as I would rather try and get to the end of term without closing a hub or making any adjustments to our risk assessment.

Therefore, limited numbers will be in for the Nursery graduation and Y6 leavers assembly.  The leavers show will go live on either Zoom, Teams, or Facebook - we will update you.  There will be no face-to-face meetings unless your child has SEN needs and a lateral flow test is carried out 30 minutes before.

I will of course read all the updates over the summer period and let parents know of any new arrangements for September but as things stand.  The small gate will open at 08:25 and parents will be able to bring their children into school as before the pandemic and Mr Hatcliffe and I will remain on the small gate.  You will no longer be required to use the carpark entrance - exciting times and hopefully this will not change before we come back.

I hope you have a great weekend in the sunshine - have fun

  • Weekly Blog

    Fri 09 Jul 2021 Mr A

Hello and welcome to my weekly blog,

Wow! What a week - the positiveness of England beating Denmark on Wednesday night, definitely put a spring in the step of those who are supporting England.

Thank you so much for the many emails supporting the decision to start later, I know that the children will appreciate not having to rush to school on Monday, along with the staff.

    Current Restrictions

I know it seems rather odd that 60 000 England fans can all go to the football game but we cannot host a sports day or other events.  This is because the DfE have not lifted the restrictions in school for keeping staff and children safe.  There are updates for the Autumn term, where hubs will go and face-to-face meetings can happen once again but until then, we will continue to have the measures in place to keep everyone safe, so we do not have to isolate (fingers crossed) before we break for the summer holidays.  Once I have read all of the guidance, I will release an update for parents so that you know what to expect in September.  This is likely to be over the summer period but I will send it via the school APP.

    Next Week...

We start the week with EYFS and KS1 hosting their sports day.  We are hoping to go live on Facebook for both events in order for parents to watch.

School reports will come via email to parents and this should be on Wednesday.

Sports day for the rest of the school and a musical extravaganza will happen on Thursday and again, we should be live on Facebook for parents to watch.

We end the week with our Spelling Bee for children who have scored well on their termly spelling test.  What an action packed week for our children.

    Have a great weekend

    Fri 02 Jul 2021 Mr A

Welcome to yet another exciting week here at Chiseldon Primary School.  The children have been working hard on all their assessments and teachers are busy writing end of year reports which are due to come out shortly.

If you would like to speak with the class teacher about the report, you will need to email and ask for a Teams meeting, as we are not holding face to face meetings until at least September 2021.

    End of Year Activities

During my last blog, I forgot to mention that our Nursery children always have a graduation ceremony to bring to an end their time in nursery and moving to formal schooling.  We always welcome parents in to this event so that you can take photos and see your child receive their certificate.  This will be going ahead again this year but it will have to be outdoor, and I can only allow 2 seats per child.  I know that this maybe disappointing to read but I need to make sure that we remain within the boundaries of the risk assessments that we hold at school and in line with DfE guidance.

    Year 4 Residential

On Monday our Year 4 pupils are off on a residential with Mr Urban, which I am sure will be a great success.  I know that the children are very excited and if you would like to wave your child off on Monday, please feel free to do so, for some, this will be their first time away from home.
