Welcome to a new school year and Year 3 Griffins. We hope that you all had a wonderful summer holiday and enjoyed yourselves. We have lots of new learning and experiences coming up.
This term our topic is ‘World War Two’. We will be looking at key events during the war, how the war had an impact on many different people, secrets and spies and we will be making a torch as part of our Science and Design Technology. Also we will be going to the STEAM museum to take part in some WW2 workshops and experiences.
PE will be on Thursday afternoon where your child will need black shorts, t-shirt in their house colour and trainers. If the weather is cold they will also need a dark jumper and tracksuit bottoms. Trainers need to be in every day for The Mile Run, which will be completed on our new running track.
We will be having music on a Tuesday afternoon where everyone will learn how to play the recorder.
The 48 spellings for this term are below. The children will be tested on these in December. Weekly spellings and times tables will also be given out every Monday for a test on Friday.
By the end of Year 3 you need to the x 2, x 3, x 4, x 5, x 8 and x 10 multiplication facts.
Everyone is expected to read for 10 minutes a day and don’t forget to get your reading journal signed for the important ’30 reads’ reward.
If you have any queries or would like to speak to us about anything we will be available at 8:30am for a quick chat before school or you can make an appointment to see us after school. There is also a box at the top of this page where you can contact us and we will get back to you within 48 hours.
Each week we will be posting an overview of our learning, so don’t forget to take a look!
We are looking forward to our first term in Year 3.
