Welcome back to our third term. We hope that you all had a relaxing Christmas break and enjoyed yourselves.
This term our topic is ‘Extreme Survival’. We will be looking at places around the world that have extreme weather conditions such as hot deserts and Polar Regions. We will also be looking at how people and animals survive in these climates. In Science, we will be exploring skeletons and how our bodies move.
In addition to PE lessons this term, we are lucky enough to have a Wiltshire cricket coach in on a Wednesday to deliver the Chance to Shine Program. PE will continue to be on Thursday afternoon. Therefore your child will need black shorts, t-shirt in their house colour and trainers and will also need a dark jumper and tracksuit bottoms for when PE is outside. Trainers should also be in every day for The Mile Run.
We will also be continuing with music on a Tuesday afternoon where our recorder skills will develop.
The 48 spellings for this term are below. The children will be tested on these for a test at the end of the term in April. Weekly spellings will also be given out every Friday for a test the following Friday.
We also ask that they read for 20 minutes a day as well as complete ten minutes on Times Tables Rock Stars.
By the end of Year 3 they need to recall the x 2, x 3, x 4, x 5, x 8 and x 10 multiplication and division facts.
If you have any queries or would like to speak to us about anything we will be available at 8:30am for a quick chat before school or you can make an appointment to see us after school. There is also a box at the top of this page where you can contact us and we will get back to you within 48 hours.
Each week we will be posting an overview of our learning, so don’t forget to take a look!
