Superhero Adventures at Museum & Art Swindon!
This week, Year 4 pupils had a unique opportunity to see some fantastic modern art and to travel back in time on a visit to Museum & Art Swindon.
The children explored the museum and art galleries, meeting horses, dogs, walruses and even a woolly mammoth!
To help with their Superheroes topic, year 4 pupils dressed up, created Super Animals, built sculptures, and took inspiration from some very famous modern artworks.
Pupils explored the Museum’s nationally-significant collection of modern art, including artworks by Lucian Freud, L.S Lowry and Grayson Perry. Museum & Art Swindon also tells the stories of Swindon from earliest times to the present-day, so year 4 also met Jurassic sea monsters, created Roman Lego mosaics, and tried grinding grain like the Saxons!
The Museum & Gallery is in the centre of Swindon, across the road from the Wyvern Theatre. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10.30am to 4.30pm. Entry is free. During school holidays, the Museum runs family days and workshops.
