Celebrating a Fabulous Week at School

Sunshine, Success and HEART Values in Action

What another fantastic week we have had at Chiseldon! It has been wonderful to see so many examples of our pupils demonstrating our HEART values in their learning, friendships and wider school experiences. This was certainly reflected in our Celebration Assembly, where we recognised and celebrated the many achievements, positive attitudes and acts of kindness shown by children across the school.

Year 1 and Year 2 once again enjoyed tennis coaching sessions with Lauren from Chiseldon Tennis Club. Building on the skills they have developed over recent weeks, the children focused on learning how to volley the ball. It was great to see their confidence growing as they practised their coordination, control and teamwork while having lots of fun.

Year 2 completed their final swimming session this week, with a particular focus on water safety ahead of the summer holidays. The children learned and practised important life-saving skills, including how to float safely and use alternate paddling techniques to help them stay afloat in the water. These are invaluable skills, and we are very proud of the effort and maturity they showed throughout their swimming programme.

A reminder to parents and carers that Year 1 will begin their swimming block next week. Please ensure that children come prepared on Tuesday with their swimming costume, towel and goggles so that they can fully enjoy their first session.

Year 4 welcomed two special visitors to school this week. They had the opportunity to meet a local PCSO, who spoke about their role within the community, the importance of keeping people safe and the different pathways into a career in policing. The children also enjoyed a visit from Father Roger, who spoke about Christianity and helped deepen their understanding of faith and beliefs through thoughtful discussion and questions about the Sacrament of Baptism.

Year 6 pupils had an important visit from the Transition Coordinator from Ridgeway School this week. The session provided valuable information about what to expect when they begin secondary school in September and gave pupils the opportunity to ask questions about the exciting next stage of their education. We know this transition can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves, and sessions like these help ensure our pupils feel confident and prepared for the move.

The warmer weather looks set to continue into next week, and we are all looking forward to making the most of the sunshine. Please remember to send your child to school with a named water bottle, sun hat and sun cream applied before they arrive each day. These simple steps help us keep everyone safe, comfortable and ready to learn during the hotter weather.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope you all have a wonderful, sunny and relaxing weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week of learning and achievement at Chiseldon.
