Celebrating a Fabulous Week at School
17-04-2026Welcome back, Chiseldon HEARTs!
Hello everyone — I hope you had a fantastic Easter break full of chocolate, sunshine (or at least a nice umbrella), and very impressive egg-hiding skills. It’s been lovely seeing your smiling faces on the gate this week — the chatter and happy footsteps have made the school sound like a very busy, very polite beehive.Cricket, cheers and champion throws
This week KS2 continued their cricket sessions and what a sight! There have been some superb throws, even better cheers, and the occasional dramatic tumble (all accounted for and nothing broken except maybe a few egos on the losing side). The pupils are absolutely loving it — well done to everyone for trying something new and having a go.
New faces around school
You may have noticed a few new faces — please give them your warmest Chiseldon welcome:
Mr Page is our new Year 5 teacher (he already knows at least one cricket joke).
Miss Parrett has joined us as a teaching assistant in Year 4.
Miss Von Steuben is helping in EYFS on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We’re currently recruiting a temporary teacher for EYFS from Wednesday to Friday — I’ll let you know as soon as that’s sorted. When Mrs Carter-Selwood returns from maternity leave, EYFS will be split as: Monday–Wednesday with Mrs Matthews and Wednesday–Friday with Mrs Carter-Selwood. Plenty of gentle hands for little explorers!
A fond farewell and good luck
We’re saying goodbye to Mrs Powton who is leaving us to join the ambulance service. How amazing is that? From helping children in school to helping people in the community — we know her kindness and caring nature will be a wonderful gift to the NHS. Thank you, Mrs Powton — please come back and visit (and tell us any new stories you’re allowed to).
Year 5 residential — off they go!
Next week our Year 5 pupils are heading off to Pencelli for their residential — adventurous days await! Supporting the trip will be Mr Ryan and Miss Cheesley. For the pupils who are staying at school, Mr Page will be teaching Y3 and the rest of Year 5 who decided to stay. I’m sure everyone will have a super time, make brilliant memories, and come back with great stories (and probably a new talent for making campfire toast).Have a lovely weekend, everyone — play nicely with your siblings, read something fun, and remember: always put your socks on the correct feet (unless you’re making a fashion statement).
See you Monday,
