Celebrating a Fabulous Week at School

What a brilliant start to the autumn term — it’s been lovely to see everyone smiling (and smartly dressed) back in school. Our uniform looked absolutely top-notch this week — thank you, families, for making sure everyone came in the correct kit. Very classy!
Safeguarding news (grown-up bit — quick and important)
Our updated safeguarding policy is now on the school website. We refresh this each year when the guidance changes, so if you want the official grown-up details, it’s there to read. Don’t worry — children, this just means we’re making sure everyone is safe and happy at school.
Mobile phones — the short version
You might have heard lots of talk about phones in the news. Our rule stays the same:
- Only pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 who walk to and from school may bring a phone.
- If a Y5 or Y6 pupil brings one, they must hand it to their class teacher when they arrive. The phone is kept safe and locked away until the end of the day.
- No other pupils should bring a phone to school unless it’s agreed for a medical reason — we don’t have any of those at the moment.
If you need to contact your child during the day, ring the school office and we’ll make sure they get the message.
Lunchtime trials — two tasty options!
We’re trying two different lunchtime systems across the next two terms so we can find what works best. Here’s how it will run:
This term (now until October half term) — Option 1 (current trial)
- Everyone comes into the hall and sits wherever they like.
- Each table is chosen and then that whole table goes to collect their hot dinner or baguette.
- Packed-lunch children may start eating straight away.
- Once children have their hot dinner, they will remain inside for at least 15 minutes — we’ve noticed some children were rushing or throwing food away to get outside, so this gives a bit of calm time to eat properly.
This has been working well this week, so we’ll keep it until October half term.
After October half term — Option 2 (the next trial)
- Everyone goes outside first and children decide when they come in for lunch.
- When a child comes in, the MDSA will mark them off the list.
- If a child hasn’t come in by the last call, an adult will find them and say, “This is the last chance for something hot!” so no one misses out.
Before Christmas — the vote!
- Just before the Christmas break, every child will get to vote for Option 1 or Option 2.
- The winning approach will become our lunchtime routine from January 2027.
Big appointments — drum roll, please!
Today we appointed our Head Boy, Head Girl and their deputies — huge congratulations to them all. We also have our new house captains and deputies ready to lead the way. It’s been a busy Friday full of cheers, high-fives and a little bit of puffing after all that excitement.

Because it was drawing attention! (We promise not to give detentions to jokes — only to rule-breakers.)
