Celebrating a Fabulous Week at School

22-05-2026

A Week of Achievement, Adventure and HEART

It has been another busy and successful week across the school, with children demonstrating many of our HEART values in both their learning and wider school experiences.

Our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils completed their Phonics Screening Checks this week. We are incredibly proud of every child for the effort, determination and positive attitude they showed throughout. Ms Jenkins and Mrs Harris have been delighted with the children's hard work and the progress they have made throughout the year. Whatever the outcome, the confidence and resilience they displayed should be celebrated.

Earlier this week, Year 1 and Year 2 also enjoyed tennis coaching sessions with Lauren from Chiseldon Tennis Club. The children learned some fundamental tennis skills, including how to hold a racquet correctly, control the ball and develop their coordination. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and enjoyment as they took part in this exciting sporting opportunity.

In Year 4, Alex has created an impressive Lego model to represent the 'R' in our HEART values – Respect.

Year 3 and Year 4 have been working incredibly hard on their assessments this week. The children have approached these challenges with maturity, resilience and perseverance, giving their very best effort in every task. We are proud of the positive attitudes they have shown and the progress they continue to make.

Excitement is building across the school as the Football World Cup gets underway. Pupils have been eagerly following the tournament using our World Cup wall chart and are looking forward to taking part in a range of themed activities over the coming weeks. It has already sparked plenty of discussion, prediction-making and sporting enthusiasm!

Meanwhile, our pupils on the Berlin residential visit appear to be having an absolutely fantastic time. The photographs and updates shared on our Facebook page show them making wonderful memories, exploring new places and embracing new experiences. If you have not already done so, please take a look at the Facebook page to follow their adventures.

We have also been ensuring that those pupils who were unable to join the Berlin trip have had the opportunity to share in some of the experience. This week, they enjoyed tasting traditional Currywurst, giving them a flavour of German culture and something to discuss with their classmates when they return.

As we move towards the end of the school year, it is wonderful to see so many examples of our children demonstrating HEART in everything they do. Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and we look forward to sharing more exciting news with you next week.
