Welcome to Year Six

Term 6

We have completed our SATs! This term is a very busy term for Year 6.  We have our Berlin residential, Sports Day, leavers production, leavers BBQ & disco, leavers assembly and secondary school visits; as well as all our normal learning!  Our topic this term is Ancient Greece, we will be learning all about how they lived as well as all the amazing things they are still remembered for.  Lots of writing still be done this term as well as we anxiously wait for our SATs results on the 9th July.

Term 3

We had a busy term with an assessment week, topic celebration and much more.  We looked at Creationism and Evolution and learnt about Darwin and his importance to science and Evolution.

W/b 9th March 2026

This week has been a fun week with Arts Week and Supermarine Rugby visiting us for a session.  During Arts week we looked at Willow Pattern Pottery, learnt about where it comes from and why it became to popular.

W/b 16th March

This week we were very busy with a cricket masterclass, science week and all the normal year six learning.  Our word of the week is 'pontificate' so please ask us what this means!

We also managed to pop over to Reception to see the chicks!

Term 6 week 1

This week we have been finishing our learning about the Cold War - we will be writing a non-chronological report linked to this learning.  In Maths we are finishing our unit on area and volume and Book Talk sees us beginning to read Holes.  We will hopefully be able to watch the film towards the end of the year.  We have also been using our Reading Plus accounts.  Lots of excitement about Berlin has been in the air!

Term 6 week 2

Lots of us had a very early start as we flew to Berlin, it sounds like they all had an amazing time, and I have seen lots of smiling faces in the Facebook pictures - I look forward to hearing all about it next week.

For those of us left behind, we started looking at Ancient Greece, learning some of our topic Oracy words for this term, including Democracy!   We also had our own little taste of Berlin when we tried Currywurst - which went down surprisingly well.

My Happy Mind Testimonial

Good morning Mr Allen,

I just wanted to say what a fantastic programme this is, Olivia has been telling us all about the hippocampus, including what it does and where it is! It gave us a good laugh when she brought it up at the dinner table the other night.

Kind regards,

Dan M
