We have had another busy week this week. We finished our sentence stacking in English and have now written an explanation text about the ground beneath our feet and will next week plan and write our own individual one.
We also finished our Maths work on 2D and 3D shape with the children finishing the block making 3D shapes out of 2d ones and using nets of paper shapes to make them 3D.
In P.E. we videoed and watched back our gymnastic balance routine. This video I hope to get on here in the next week with the help of Mr Baden, at the moment the file is too large so I am hoping we can edit and put it on as two videos.
We looked at the artist Lowry this week who was famous for his match stick drawings of people - some of the class enjoyed replicating this style! We will continue to study his style and have another go at producing our own version of a piece of his work.
Spellings - I have decided to revisit a week that the children found tricky and that we have been revisiting in class this week:
11.2.2022 | Spellings | Prior Learning |
Adding suffixes beginning with a vowel (er/ed/en/ing) to words with more than one syllable (stressed last syllable - double the final consonant) | forgetting forgotten beginning beginner preferred preferring occurred occurring forbidden committed | Y2 - Adding –ing, -ed, -er, -est and –y to words of one syllable ending in a single consonant after a single vowel

We did a check on all our tables so far this year, 2x, 5x, 3x, and 4x and the children were impressed with how far they have come with their tables as we looked back at previous scores. They enjoy looking back and noticing the improvements they have made. We spoke about the value 'courage' during this as some children said they used courage to keep going and try to better their scores each week.
