What an interesting set of costumes ...

The second week back of the term has seen us pick up from last week working on improving our grammar, punctuation and spelling: there was great excitement at seeing our spelling scores rising already!  Most of us are now confident using long division but will keep our hand in on a daily basis to ensure we can remember and use the method well.  There was also a 'feel good' factor about the latest artithmetic scores achieved this week - many children increased their scores significantly - well done everyone!

In RE we have begun to consider the question 'Is Christianity still a strong religion 2000 years after Jesus was on earth?' by exploring the idea of people who have influenced us in our lives.  We have also been considering the British Value of 'Tolerance' and had an interesting discussion about how groups of society are often sectioned off or blamed in the media for negative things.  The children were very unhappy at some of the sensationalised and sterotyped headlines we found in the media: clearly tolerance and understanding of the importance of differences are alive and strong in Year 6, togther with a strong sense of justice and fairness!

Next week we will switch some of our focus to science work as it is British Science Week.

Congratulations to both Josh and Tia-Starr for fantastic efforts, determination and perseverence in their SPaG and long division work - keep it up!
