We have had a great first week in Year 3!
Our first day was a topic day based around Matilda the Musical. We had lots of fun doing different activities and singing along to the soundtrack from the musical.
The children looked at how different it would be if they were in Miss Honey's class or Miss Trunchbull's class. They then wrote their own class rules for each teacher!
The children discovered that Miss Trunchbull used to be in the Olympics and that her events were shot put, javelin and the hammer throw. We went outside with Miss Hagley and tried out these events for ourselves.
I think the children's favourite part of the day was looking at Bruce Bogtrotter's cake scene! We researched how to make a cake and where chocolate comes from. The day ended with tasting our very own Bruce Bogtrotter chocolate cake!
Throughout the rest of the week we have been getting used to new routines and getting back into the swing of school! They have all done amazingly well and have really impressed me.
In our science lesson this week we were learning about the different parts of a plant and what their jobs are. We went outside and looked at the Nursery's sunflowers that they grew at the end of last year. The children really enjoyed this and I couldn't drag them away!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I will see you on Monday!
