Welcome back year 2! I hope you all had a brilliant half term. 


This week we have started exploring our new topic on The Victorians, looking at life during the era and why it was called the Victorian era. The children have been dressing up as Victorians and discussing why they think Victorian life was good or bad. 


In Maths this week we have been continuing our learning all about measurements and weight, the children have worked really hard using cm and m in their work. In English we have started our new text type, a non-chronological report. We have been looking at the shapes and layout and the essential features for a non-chronological report. 


In phonics we have been learning our i sound and our spellings are linked to it - mystery, pygmy, inch, biscuit, mist, grin, build, guilt, England and trip. 


We also have celebrated World Book Day and spent the whole day reading and sharing our love of reading. 


W/C 21.03.22


This week year 2 have worked really hard learning all about money and how to create amounts in pence and generate change. They have all worked super hard, using the coins to help them. In English we have been planning our very own Non-chronological reports and researching facts for us to use. 


In History we have been learning all about Florence Nightingale and all of the heroic work that she did to save the soldiers in the Crimean War. We have also looked at her life and personal timeline. In science we have been continuing our science project around human growth and how other animals have grown. 


In PE the children have all stepped outside of their comfort zones and excelled in learning a Victorian Waltz! In Phonics this week we have been learning the n sound and our spellings are linked to it, they are: Banner, Known, Knew, new, no, knock, nine, kneel, bones and newspaper.
