The weekly blog - keeping you up-to-date with school life; Stars of the Week; Housepoint winners and much more...

What a vibrant and exciting week we've had at our school! The corridors have been buzzing with creativity as we celebrated Arts Week, with a focus on Expressionism. It's been wonderful to see our pupils immersing themselves in this fascinating art movement, exploring emotions and inner experiences through their artwork. Today, we had the pleasure of showcasing all their hard work in our sharing assembly. I was truly impressed by the depth of understanding and the range of interpretations our young artists displayed. If you're popping into school, do take a moment to admire some of the pieces which will be exhibited in our school hall – I'm sure you'll be as amazed as I am by the talent on show.

Speaking of celebrations, our St. David's house pupils have been a sea of yellow today! It's been delightful to see them embracing their house colour and learning about St. David's Day, which is observed across Wales and the UK tomorrow. These cultural connections help broaden our pupils' horizons and foster a sense of belonging to our wider British community.

On a more poignant note, I'd like to share an initiative that's close to my heart. As I mentioned in my recent email, we've noticed that many of our children have been experiencing loss – be it a beloved pet, a friend, or a family member. In response, we've introduced 'Letters and Pictures to Heaven'. This gives our pupils a special way to express their feelings and memories. They can write letters or create artwork and post them in our golden letterbox. I want to reassure you that these deeply personal messages won't be read by anyone at school. Instead, every Friday, they'll be 'magically' sent to Heaven. It's heartening to see that some children have already used the box today, finding comfort in sharing their thoughts with their loved ones.

Looking ahead to next week, we have some important dates and events to keep in mind. Ramadan begins, marking a significant period for many in our community. We're also excited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with our very own pancake day – a tasty tradition I'm sure the children are looking forward to!

For parents of children attending the Pencelli trip, please remember we have a parent meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 15:30. This will be an excellent opportunity to get all the information you need and ask any questions you might have.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Thursday is World Book Day. Miss Dickson has sent out details via letter and email about how we'll be marking this fantastic celebration of reading. Do check those communications to ensure your child is prepared for all the bookish fun we have planned.

As always, I'm immensely proud of our school community and the way we come together to learn, celebrate, and support one another. Thank you for your continued partnership in making Chiseldon Primary & Nursery School such a special place for our pupils to grow and thrive.
