I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared at school. It's been a whirlwind of learning, growth, and achievement, and I'm thrilled to share some of the highlights with you.
First and foremost, I hope you're all looking forward to a super half term break. It's a well-deserved opportunity for our pupils to recharge their batteries and return to school refreshed and ready for new challenges.
This week, our focus has been on an incredibly important topic: online safety. During our safer internet week, our pupils have been diving deep into understanding how to keep themselves safe in the digital world. In this age of technology, it's crucial that our children are equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online landscape responsibly and safely.
I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and carers who took the time to book appointments with their child's class teacher. These meetings are invaluable opportunities to discuss your child's progress and celebrate their achievements. Your engagement in your child's education is a cornerstone of their success, and we truly appreciate your partnership.
I'm excited to share that we've recently launched our Oracy project. This initiative focuses on key words that children should know by ages 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. We're currently working on expanding this vocabulary for years 3, 4, 5, and 6. As part of this project, we'll be assessing the children's ability to not only say these words but also use them correctly in sentences. This approach helps us gauge their true understanding of each word, fostering a deeper level of comprehension and communication skills.
Our recent topic celebration was another resounding success. Thank you to everyone who attended and showed support for our pupils' hard work. These events are a wonderful showcase of the creativity and knowledge our children have developed, and your presence means the world to them.
Now, let's take a moment to celebrate some of our stars this week. Our Stars of the Week have shown exceptional effort and achievement:
In Nursery, we're proud of Pippa and Esmae-Hope.
Reception sees Edie and La'Rosa shining bright.
Year 1's stars are Sachin and Alex, while
Year 2 celebrates Harry and Ocean-May.
Freddie and Alex are leading the way in Year 3, with
Tristan and Oliver standing out in Year 4.
Year 5's stars are Tayla and Florence, and in
Year 6, Thomas and Imogen Davies have excelled.
Well done to all of you!
Our Top Doodlers deserve a special mention too. La'Rosa, Ayla, Stanley, George, Ethan, and Sade have achieved more day streaks in both Spell and Maths - keep up the fantastic work!
Year 6 has won the Doodle Maths challenge, while
Year 5 takes the crown for Doodle Spell.
Your dedication to improving your skills is truly admirable.
In our house point competition, St. George 🏴 has had an outstanding week, earning 169 points. They've also clinched the term's victory with an impressive 1080 points. Congratulations to all the pupils in St. George for their consistent effort and teamwork.
Our individual house winners are George for St. George, Sade for St. Patrick, Ayla and La'Rosa for St. Andrew, and Ethan for St. David. Your contributions to your houses are invaluable.
Attendance is a crucial aspect of your child's education, and I'm pleased to announce that Year 4 leads the way this week with an impressive 95.9% 🏆 attendance rate. Well done to all the pupils in Year 4 for your commitment to learning.
Our whole school attendance currently stands at 94.75%. While this is good, we can always strive for better. Remember, every day counts in your child's educational journey. Regular attendance is key to ensuring they don't miss out on vital learning opportunities.
Looking ahead, I have a few important notices to share. Please note that Monday, 24th February, is a TD day. Our staff will be participating in a borough-wide initiative, receiving training in Trauma Informed Practice. This training will enhance our ability to support all our pupils effectively.
When we return, we'll be kicking off with Arts Week. This promises to be an exciting time filled with diverse experiences in Arts & Design. It's a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to explore their creativity and develop new skills.
Finally, on Friday, 28th February, we'll be celebrating St. David's Day. Pupils in the St. David house are invited to come to school wearing something yellow to mark the occasion. It's always a joy to see our school community coming together to celebrate these special days.
As we wrap up this term, I want to express my gratitude to all of you - our pupils, parents, carers, and staff. Your dedication, support, and enthusiasm make our school a vibrant and nurturing place of learning.
The achievements we celebrate today are a testament to the collaborative effort of our entire school community.
I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable half term break. Use this time to relax, recharge, and perhaps even practice some of those new vocabulary words from our Oracy project!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term of growth, learning, and achievement.
Stay safe, have fun, and we'll see you soon!
