I hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing Christmas and New Year! The children have come back ready to go and we've had a fantastic week!
In English, we have started our new piece of narrative writing based on The Wolves in the Walls. We have written some great opening sentences so far.
This week in Maths we have been focussing on measuring and comparing length, mass and capacity. We had great fun at the beginning of the week with lots of objects out on tables and were measuring their length and their weight. As well as looking at how much water different sized containers can hold. Next week, we'll be moving onto fractions!
Our topic this term is called 'Extreme Survival'and we opened this by looking at where in the world you would find deserts and polar regions. We had a lot of fun looking in atlases to do this.
This term in Science, we will be learning all about light. Our first lesson was based all around what is light and dark and we researched all different light sources and whether they were natural or artifical. We also investigated darkness by doing a feely bag investigation.
In Computing this week, I gave each child a copy of their DB Primary login. This is a great resource to practice all sort of things at home and not just computing. There are some excellent times tables games on there too! Keep an eye out as I will be assigning the class some tasks to complete.
Have a good weekend and I'll see you on Monday!
