We have all had another great week in year 2.
Our European day of languages celebrations in year 2 began with exploring the location and features of the country Greece.
The children all had a go at some 'Zorba dancing' and they also tried to pronounce the Greek words for different fruits and vegetables. Afterwards the children all experienced a taste of different Greek foods and shared their opinions with the rest of the class.
In English this week we have continued to look at how to write stories. The children were planning their story openings, problems and solutions, then ended the week by writing their own food stories using some exciting descriptive language. Next week we will be learning about different types and styles of poetry.
In Maths the children were recapping over their last few weeks of learning and they were consolidating their understanding. They have all tried very hard and I can see a lot of improvement.
In Geography this week the children were continuing their learning of the Seven Continents of the world. They began by sorting out different varieties of fruit and vegetable packaging in order of which continent they felt they belonged to. They then used this information to create a tally chart of their locations. The children found out that most of our fruit and vegetables quite often travel many miles before they reach the UK.
The children have been progressing nicely with their Ice Skating, and they also had another Tennis taster session which they all enjoyed.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and I will see you on Monday!
