Week 25th February 2019

What a great first week back!

Year 3 began the week by having a Topic experience day. We went on a European adventure! The day began with the children getting their passports and boarding passes and sitting on our class 'areoplane'. We watched the safety demonstration video by an air hostess and then the children had to guess which country we were visiting from a collection of pictures. When we landed in each country, the children took part in three different activities.

- Food tasting

- Learning colours in French

- Map skills

-Spanish football teams

- Learning basic Spanish phrases

- Map skills

- Mount Vesuvius

- Sketching Italian landmarks

- Map skills

We had so much fun, it was a fantastic first day back.

In Maths this week, Year 3 have begun looking at time. We will be continuing this for the next few weeks. It would be really helpful for children to practise telling the time at home using an analogue clock. They need to be able to tell the time accurately to one minute.

Our new Booktalk book is The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The children are very excited about reading it. This week, we have been discovering what the Iron Man looks like. We have even started building our own Iron Man for the classroom. Keep an eye out for the finished product!

I'll see you on Monday!
