W/C 4th January 2017

Its been a great start to the term, with lots of new things to study.

We have started our new guided reading book, 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman. It's set in ancient Indonesia, and has some very interesting characters.

In English we have been working on Explanation texts, and what features they have. Maths has proved challenging, as we are starting to learn 3 digit short division. I think we are going to need lots of practice, but we are getting there.

Our topic has got off to a good start as we have debated which of the four Kings should be crowned King of England in 1066, followed by a role play of the battle of Stamford Bridge and the battle of Hastings. It certainly put the American presidential debates to shame!

We are looking forward to maths week next week, don't forget we have PE next Wednesday and we start swimming from next Thursday, so please remember kit.
