This week Year 6 have been looking at Information Texts in English and Algebra/Properties of Shape in Maths.
In English we began the week looking at the features of an information text and then moved on to how to successfully collect relevant information. We then used some of this information to create an introductory paragraph for our final text, using clauses and bracket to provide extra information.
In Maths we began the week looking at simple algebra formula and then moved onto 2D and 3D shapes. We discussed all our prior knowledge surrounding shape and then focused on what specific properties determine if a shape is its regular or irregular structure. Some of the class then made nets of 3D shapes and created their own.
This week we kicked off our new topic of 'Yes Minister!' with a knowledge harvest. The children needed to collect as much information about the topic as possible and present these in the form of an A3 poster.
See our pictures from the week below, including this week's Big Maths Problem.
Have a great weekend, Mr Bailey.
