This week Year 6 continued their focus on Letter Writing in English and Number and Place Value in Maths.
In English the class looked at how to use specific language to make a letter persuasive. They were then set the challenge to write a letter to a group of farmers, explaining the reasons why and persuading them to move towards an organic style of farming.
In Maths our focus turned towards ordering and comparing numbers up to 10,000,000. Towards the end of the week we looked at negative number, including different calculations and how it is used in context.
In our topic sessions we continued to develop our knowledge harvest posters and we were also lucky enough to take part in a tennis taster session mid-week.
To end the week, we completed a Big Maths Problem Solving investigation which stretched our understanding of negative numbers all the way to algebraic formulae.
