This week Year 6 have been looking at fractions in Maths and Poetry in English.
In English we have looked a different forms of poetry such as, Haiku and Kennings. Haiku poems follow a format of 3 lines, the first holding 5 syllables, the second holding 7 syllables and the third 5 syllables. Kennings poems have multiple lines with a noun followed by a verb about a specific subject.
In Maths we have continued our focus on fractions, looking at adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. This has been a very tricky concept; however the children have worked extremely hard to develop their understanding.
Wednesday afternoon saw us visit Barbury Castle. During our trip we looked at the different landscapes around us and produced some sketches. These were then used to support our work about John Constable's 'The Hay Wain' in class.
Thank you so much to all the parents that attended topic celebration. I hope that you enjoyed assisting the children in completing their final pieces of artwork produced from the sketches taken at Barbury Castle. These will be on display in the hall for you all to see.
See our pictures from the week below. Have a great weekend.
