W/B 10th October 2016

I can't believe that we have reached the end of our last full week in  of the term! Well done Year 1, I am so proud of how well you have all done during this first term.

We have continued to look at poetry this week. We have looked at how many syllables are in a word and how we can use this to help us in a rhyming poem. We also looked at how we knew words rhymed and matched up pairs. At the end of the week we attempted to write our own rhyming poem. Some of us managed to achieve this, but it is very tricky.

In Maths we have looked at counting forward and backwards up to 100. We have all be fantastic at this from day 1. We have played different games on the computers, used snap cards and figured out different number patterns.

We have completed our first test of the 48 spellings and we all have done so well, Miss Smith and Mr Coward are looking forward to seeing our schools at Christmas after we have managed to practice them all!

In Science this week we looked at the season we are currently in. We went on an Autumn hunt around the school field and found lots of fantastic items that told us it was Autumn. Miss Smith put pictures on twitter showing what we got up to.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and then we are only back for 2 days!

Miss Smith :)
